You may find yourself saying things like:
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
“I feel crazy / broken / off.”
“Nothing bad is happening, so why do I feel this way?”
“I used to handle things but now I can’t even think straight.”
No, you don't “just need to snap out of it.”
This is the classic, early or mixed signs of anxiety, depression, burnout, executive dysfunction, stress overload, repressed trauma, hormonal shifts, sleep debt, or a nervous system that’s been running on "E" too long.
What We Often See
People usually try to push through first. They tell themselves “everyone feels this way sometimes” or “I just need better habits.” They blame themselves for not having energy, for zoning out, for snapping at people, for not caring about things anymore. Friends or family might say, “Everyone feels this way sometimes. It'll pass,” or “You're not as bad as John or Jane Doe.”
But then it keeps going. We keep pushing, sputtering on an empty gas tank with treadless tires... until we break or realize that “wait a minute, this isn’t normal... something isn't right here.” That gut feeling returns strongly, now yelling at you to get help, that this is beyond what I can handle alone. And you know what? Personally, I love that. I love that stubbornness and determination. We will just use it differently now.
Bottom line, you do not need to know what is "wrong" with you or what A + F + X equals. It doesn’t always come with an easy-to-remember acronym or label at first; that's my job. All you need to do is show up.
